Ginger Power

Hello, I have created my first game in Godot. This is also my first mini game jam submission.

Ginger Power has been a fun small project to practice my game development skills using Godot. I am proud of this game as it is the first game I have completed from scratch. Creating this game from start to finish without following a step-by-step tutorial has been a great step forward in my game development journey!  

About:

Team members: PyroSplat (Solo Dev) - artwork, programming, and game design.
Software used: Godot 4, Pyxel Edit, YouTube, and Google + Godot Docs


Game Overview:

In this game, Ginger Power, the player earns as many points as possible before the timer runs out. The player gains points by answering random true or false questions correctly. The player must jump onto the correct platform indicated by true or false to activate the corresponding button. Be careful as the player will lose a life (burn out a bulb) for each question that is answered incorrectly.

- Light bulbs are powered by the ginger jumping onto the true and false platforms :P

Use of surprise limitation: On a timer
- The player has only 30 seconds to answer as many questions as they can before the time runs out!

Extra:

I plan to add more content into the game in the future.  Overall, I am happy with what I have completed so far. 

To-do List: 

• Each question the player answers correct charges up a bar along the side of the stage until it reaches the top and the lights all turn on.
• Have the light bulbs burst when answering incorrectly (3 lives):  Completed!
• Add screen shake to go along with the sound when answered incorrect.
• Create better game art and animations.
• Add more questions (100s more).
• Create a score board / high score record.
• Options menu to adjust timer settings in game.
• Touch controls and mobile phone support:  Completed!
